Chapter 25 Yellow’s Release
However, in jail, Yellow’s heart was hard until his mom came bearing news.
“Hi son, how are they treating you in here?” said Elise, Yellow’s mom.
“Well, about as good as they can treat anybody they think is a low-life.”
“You know AJ visited me when you wouldn’t see him.”
“He should have; he’s the reason your one and only son is here.”
“I’m not so sure about that Ell, he had to do what was needed to . . .”
“To keep that bitch happy,” cut in Yellow.
“Watch your mouth, and, well, there’s a lot more to it than that and I think it’s saying a lot for him to take time out of his busy schedule to come see us. Here’s his number if you ever have a change of heart,” she said handing him the paper.
“He’s just guilty; I don’t need his pity.”
“His pity may help you one day,” said Elise. Taking a deep breath, she gave him the rest of her news. “Look, there is another situation brewing,” said Elise.
“What’s that?” asked Yellow.
“One of your old girlfriends, Shenae, she told me, says she has had your child.”
“She’s lying,” purported Yellow.
“Think son. Could you have had careless relations with her about a year ago?”
“Mom, come on.”
“Boy, I just want to know if this is a realistic claim so I can get DNA testing. I’m not thrilled about becoming a grandmother so soon either, but I’ll be doggone if my granddaughter wants for anything while I’m here on this earth,” said Elise.
“Okay, I could have had relations with her but that was so long ago.”
“The baby’s three months remember,” said Elise
“I guess it could have been about a year ago.”
“Well, I haven’t seen the baby yet because she just wrote me a letter. I really don’t want to see her or the baby until the testing, so I’ll get back to you on the DNA testing by letter if I can’t get to where they assign you. Of all the people you could have offended, you pick a judge’s daughter. May God have mercy on you.”
